HR Leader

At Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT), we are delighted to invite outstanding HR professionals to apply for this exciting new role. 

The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape and influence the growth and development of the HR department. This will be within a charity committed to making a difference to the lives of children and young people in Northamptonshire and Rutland through the delivery of exceptional music education.

As part of the Professional Services team, you will act as a subject matter expert, partnering with leadership colleagues to develop and deliver HR strategies that support our charitable mission and organisational objectives.

This role creates an exciting opportunity for a motivated self-starter who has the experience and knowledge to shape all areas of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance and learning and development.

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support organisational goals, sustainability and growth.
  • Advise the CEO, SLT and Heads of Department on workforce planning, and talent pipelines.
  • Lead on people-related change management, ensuring well-planned, well-communicated transitions.
  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring high-quality, fair, and inclusive practices.
  • Oversee screening, interview, assessment and selection processes to attract and retain excellent staff.
  • Design and manage training, development programmes.
  • To be responsible for onboarding of all new joiners.
  • Develop and implement an induction and onboarding process
  • Ensure leaders and managers are supported to grow capability across their teams.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture aligned with NMPAT’s values.
  • Provide expert advice on employee relations matters, ensuring consistent and fair application of policies and procedures. Create awareness where appropriate around these policies and procedures to ensure they are consistently and fairly applied.
  • Develop succinct and visible HR communications so colleagues understand policies, processes, benefits, and development opportunities.
  • Identify organisational training needs and coordinate learning and development activity to support continuous improvement and career progression.
  • Implement and embed performance appraisal and review systems.
  • Support managers in effective objective setting, feedback conversations, and performance improvement processes.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, recognition, and high performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with employment legislation, HR best practice, and health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reporting systems, and employment documentation.
  • Lead the implementation and roll-out of a new cloud-based HR software platform.
  • Oversee the regular review of HR policies to ensure they remain compliant and effective.

Finance Committee Trustee and Chair

Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) is seeking supporters with a background in finance, to join the Board of Trustees and its Finance Sub-Committee. We are particularly looking for a new Chair, to take over from our existing post-holder in the Autumn.

Successful candidates will have a background in finance, able to support and challenge the Executive, over the financial management and health of the organisation. They will need to be committed to supporting an educational charity to provide opportunities for thousands of young musicians and performing artists.

NMPAT is a music education charity, which provides musical and artistic opportunities for the children and young people of Northamptonshire, with a £5m turnover. As lead partner of the Northamptonshire and Rutland Music Hub, the charity works with almost every school in the two counties. We engage with over 50,000 young people per year, run more than 30 County Ensembles – bands, orchestras and choirs – 9 Saturday Centres, and further enrichment, and performance opportunities throughout the year. We employ over 250 staff, including 13 who are permanently based at our Kettering Road location.
