Teacher of Early Years/ Key Stage 1 

Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) are seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic music teacher to teach our Early Years and KS1 class for our wonderful Nene Valley Music Saturday Centre. We are actively seeking a musician with experience of working with Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils.

Our Centres form an integral part of our Music and Performing Arts pathway: they provide children across the County with the opportunity to take their first steps in music making; enhance the learning that takes place in their individual or group lessons in school; allow them to learn to play and perform with others in a range of groups and ensembles. Each Centre offers a diverse range of sessions from early years, drama, through to brass ensembles, and jazz groups! 

 

As a member of staff, you will: 

  • Be an effective and engaging practitioner who can maintain high standards of teaching and learning whilst engaging young people as they take their first steps in collective music making. 
  • Always keep student safeguarding and well-being as a priority and complete our mandatory safeguard training. 
  • Deliver engaging and motivational lessons with appropriate content. 
  • Demonstrate effective time-keeping, record keeping and complete administrative duties efficiently. 
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with all stakeholders: pupils, parents, colleagues and line managers. 
  • Be supportive of the wider organisation and schools by actively promoting engagement in ensemble activities including NMPAT County Groups. 
  • Be a positive addition to the teams of which you are a part: centres, instrumental discipline, and the wider NMPAT and Music Education Hub community. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to be an enthusiastic and effective learner, maintaining personal instrumental skills and developing understanding of repertoire and pedagogy through engagement with our CPD offer. 
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues; collaborate and seek to learn. 
  • Maintain a knowledge of NMPAT policies and procedures and model the behaviours set out in the NMPAT code of conduct. 
  • Be able to take on other duties as appropriate. 

Each of our Centres offers classes suitable for Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils. We are looking for an inspirational practitioner to deliver the session at our Nene Valley Centre on Saturday mornings during term time. The sessions cover a range of general musicianship skills, singing, movement, drama and learning to play simple instruments. Experience working with Early Years or Key stage 1 pupils is desirable. The Centre sessions run from 9.00am – 12.00pm each week. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
