What we offer

As leader of the Northamptonshire and Rutland Music Hub, NMPAT provide instrumental and vocal lessons in nearly every school in the two counties.  In addition, we offer opportunities for children and young people to continue their creative journey in a range of settings:

Drama

Our Youth Theatre centre meets on Saturdays at our Kettering Road site (NN1 4AZ) between 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

NMPAT Youth Theatre provides high quality performing arts opportunities for young people aged 9 to 18. We keep the social, emotional and educational development of our young people at the heart of what we do, aiming to inspire and nurture our students, allowing them to excel.

Youth Theatre is open access – you don’t need to have any experience to join – and registration is via SpeedAdmin: www.nmpat.co.uk/speedadmin-centres

Centres

NMPAT Centres bring weekly music and arts sessions to children and young people right across Northamptonshire — with eight locations to choose from, including Brackley and Cheney, Daventry, Duston, Holloway, Kettering, Nene Valley, Towcester and Wellingborough, plus our specialist Y-Not Arts and Youth Theatre Centres in Northampton.

Whether your child is picking up an instrument for the very first time or already loves to play, there’s a place for them here. The beginner-friendly sessions are the perfect starting point, with other sessions suitable for those with some experience. All led by friendly, experienced staff delivering a variety of creative activities.

SEND

NMPAT’s Reach the Stars programme delivers practical music education with and for children and young people with additional needs, supporting Special Schools and DSP units (Designated Special Provision, in schools), throughout the county.

Our Musical Stars group meets on Wednesday evenings, during term time, and it is designed to give children and young people the chance to explore and create through music, to develop social and communication skills.  No experience of music is necessary for participants – it’s about making music together and having fun! We also offer Music Therapy and a Musical Inclusion Programme working with external partners for a range of community groups.

Instrumental and vocal lessons

Every child in Northamptonshire deserves the chance to discover music, and that’s exactly what we do. Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust partners with nearly every school in the county to bring instrumental and vocal lessons to young people across the region.

We also offer lessons outside of school at our Kettering Road base in Northampton (NN1 4AZ) for young musicians looking to level up and push their playing to the next stage. These lessons are a great fit for those with some experience under their belt, and we’re always happy to welcome beginners too, subject to availability!

County Ensembles

Our award-winning County Ensembles offer talented young musicians a fantastic opportunity to progress beyond lessons or our centres. These auditioned bands, orchestras, choirs, and groups cater for all ages — from junior through to senior level — so there’s a natural pathway as students grow.

Ensembles rehearse weekly during term time at our Kettering Road base in Northampton (NN1 4AZ) and perform at professional venues throughout the year. It’s more than just music. Being part of an ensemble builds confidence, teaches teamwork and commitment, and creates a real sense of achievement.
